VIVID is a wearable corset designed to reimagine the scoliosis brace through a fusion of medical support and fashion-forward aesthetics. Rooted in the concept of a negotiating wearable, the project explores how prosthetics and augmentation can be reframed as empowering extensions of the body — not just clinical solutions.

The piece was developed after in-depth research into the emotional and physical discomfort scoliosis patients face when wearing traditional braces, often described as bulky, stiff, and alienating. VIVID offers an inclusive alternative — a brace that’s customizable in form, color, and style, while maintaining the structural pressure points needed for spinal support.

We worked hands-on with a model, casting her torso to understand her anatomy and pressure points, and then collaborated on the color and material aesthetic to create a piece that felt both functional and personal. The final result is a sculptural brace made from resin, balancing ergonomics, fashion, and healing — a prosthetic that treats while empowering.
